Aaron Schmidt's blog, Walking Paper, has published the Top Ten Things to Stay Tech Current. I think we're doing most of the things he talks about, with the exception of Instant Messaging. We looked into providing IM for patrons a while back and were concerned about the security issues; viruses, trojans, etc. We've also considered using IM for virtual reference, but the most popular IM programs do not play well with each other and require the patron to have an account. A new program, Trillian, supports the major IM clients, so it may be time to revisit this.
