Daveman will be at the PLA Conference later this week. I attended this a few years ago in Phoenix. It's a great conference and this year there'll be upwards of 6,000 librarians on the loose in Boston. In addition to two full days of conference sessions, I'm hoping to browse some bookstores in Harvard Square and, if I get time, pay a visit to the Car Guys.

Meanwhile, we've discovered Meebo, a useful web site for our patrons who IM. We've always been concerned about the security aspects of IM, so we've resisted installing the software on our computers. Meebo lets anyone with accounts on AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger and Jabber can log into them from its site. It supports the features and buddy list of each IM service. Our patrons are happy and our network is safe.
