Rory Litwin has written a thought-provoking article about Google's digitization project titled, On Google's Monetization of Libraries. He writes, "Google is not staffed by librarians, and does not operate according to policies that flow out of long traditions of library practice guaranteeing privacy, equity of access, collective ownership of information, information in context, and personal service. This project...is about monetizing the holdings of research libraries." This article appeared in Litwin's biweekly newsletter, Library Juice, which can be delivered via e-mail or RSS.
